  • Teaching Guide with details about everything!

How your students will learn Paint Evidence:

Students work through 26 interactive Google Slides. Slides ask them to drag and drop, organize images, watch short video clips, and think through information. The interactivity keeps them engaged in learning! Slides can be 100% student led, or you can use them for lecture, or a mix of both.

As they work through the slides, students will complete their notes. Six pages of student notes ask them to think through the information, not merely copy and paste or fill in the blank.

Then they will be ready to practice their new skills by solving five unique cases. Each case involves different aspects of paint evidence, collection and analysis. This is NO PREP for you! Everything they need is on a set of 17 Interactive Google Slides. As they work, students answer questions on a four page lab sheet.

The last lab page is for the hands on lab! Your students are tasked with microscopically observing the cross section of six paint chips and documenting the colors of their layers. The lab requires some simple prep, but once you make the paint chips you will keep them every year! Instructions for setting up the lab is included in the detailed and comprehensive Teaching Guide.

To make things even easier for you, there are two Google Slides to show your students how to do the lab! Complete with written instructions and images.

Finally, test your students’ knowledge with the 10 question Google Form. Use it for review or for an assessment.

Each part of this Lesson comes with a detailed Key!

Five Stars!

Here is what some happy teachers are saying about this resource in our Teachers Pay Teachers store!

This lab worked great for my forensics class! I did not want to make samples or use chemicals that would indicate the type of paint. This interactive lab led the students through a series of questions to solve mysteries. They did not need much help and the answer key was a great benefit for my time crunch!               – Brittany D.
