Description

This is a quick, easy Forensic Careers Project for your students. NO PREP! It offers the freedom to choose a topic of interest that may end up being a career choice for them down the road!

Students choose a Forensic Science Career from a list of 28 unique careers. They then follow the provided 100 point rubric to create a one page Google Slide digital poster.

One of the challenges for students is to get all of the required information into a small space – a single (large) Google Slide. I have provided an example, in two different styles, to give them a starting place for their own creativity. There are also three student made examples provided!

Project is Simple and Flexible!

I give my classes about 180 minutes to complete the project (two 90 minute block classes), but you can adjust if you have less available time in class and assign the rest for homework. Honors students require less time (around 120 minutes). The full teacher’s guide gives a tip for saving time during project presentations!

The project may be assigned at the start of the year to give kids an introduction to the many fields of Forensic Science. I usually do the project in the middle of the year. By then they have heard most of the vocabulary and have experience with many of the subjects they are researching. It gives them more of a foundation of knowledge to build upon as they learn each career.

To keep students engaged and interacting with the content, they are to fill out the Reflection Sheet. Parts of the sheet are looking for facts (which careers require more than a 4 year degree?) and some questions ask their opinion (which career would you never want to do and why?).

My Forensics classes always enjoy this project! Some of my students have even gone on to college to pursue the field of Forensics!
